Coffee Table Makeover

I ABSOLUTELY Love finding broken and Undesirable pieces and making them into to something Awesome! This is an early on piece I did but just now posting about it. Less than a year ago I  was at an auction and before the "good" stuff they do a Pre-Auction... a sidewalk auction so to speak... It's usually filled with unwanted yard sale junk and broken/damaged furniture.

And low and Behold something caught my eye... This Beautiful Coffee table... Scratched to pieces... missing hinges but overall Sturdy and Full of potential.

No one was bidding... guess most people couldn't look through the mess and see the masterpiece. So I took her home for 6 whole dollars.

Crazy I know Right!?!?!?!

This baby was AMAZING! The top lifted for storage and to give an idea of the size and space... I could fit in in!

I wish I would have taken better pictures of the finished product... But I painted it a creamy white and distressed it a little.

Thanks for reading! Hope it inspires you to see the Beauty even in the complete Mess that surrounds whatever life throws!

Happy Fall Ya'll

It's been a Crazy past few months! Between New business opportunities, my husband being hurt, taking care of sick kids while being sick myself for 2 weeks... to say the least blogging and getting stuff made has not been doable. But the Past week the weather has been Amazing and has put me in GO mode.

Here is the Tulle Witch Hat I made from a dollar store witch hat....

Also made this Cute and simple chalkboard to put up in my booth

Here are some Fabric Pumpkins... Super Easy to make

Here are some Cute little Wood Pumpkins made from scrap 2x4's... Some I left plain and some I Modpodged scrapbook paper on.

Here are some dollar store carve-able foam pumpkins... I tried the crackle effect, glitter, and one not pictured I modpodged scrapbook paper strips to it...

Halloween: Tulle Witch Hat

This Weekend put me in Fall Mode... down in the south it is always so hot. I don't know how many times I have wore shorts on Christmas. But this past weekend it was Awesome! Nice cool Weather!

I wanted to share this simple yet cute little witch hat I made for the shop for some eye candy!

I found some little witch hats at the Dollar Store and crazy enough our Walmart had some Halloween colored tulle for a dollar.

Here are the Hats I found...

I started by punching holes around the rim of the hat

Then Cut your tulle to the length you like and attach it the same way you would the no sew tutu skirts

I actually found that if you use 2 pieces of Tulle together per hole it gives a much fuller look. And Attach until all the holes are filled and Wala!

And there you go! A Simple but Statement making Witch Hat! It can be used as part of a Costume or even decor! The total cost was only about $3... Also you could add a bow... spider... something to give it a little extra something.

Thanks for reading and as Always Be Inspired!

Vanity Table Transformation

A few weeks ago I found this little Makeup Vanity table piece... It was a cherry color and had no chair. It needed some repair but Hey fixer uppers are kind of my thing. I Love finding broken things and giving them new life.

I didn't get a before picture but with 4 kids and it being summer break I'm just tickled I got it painted.

After fixing it up a bit I chose to go with a creamy white color. I grabbed some Webster's Chalk Paint Powder and got started. If you've never used it before I would recommend it. Besides it cutting a lot of Prep time I have found it makes my paint go a lot further.

My chair was a black color and since I new I wanted to distress it I added some black to the areas of the vanity I was going to age. Since they were 2 different pieces I wanted them to look like they have always been together.

I found some cute fabric I wanted to do the chair and worked my magic. I found some amazing tutorials online about how to upholster a chair seat and it turned out really well.

I love free handing things on furniture. It gives it a little something extra. In my area unique pieces are few and far in between... So but adding painting a little something I can give it that uniqueness I'm looking for.

After I got everything painted I sealed it with some Polyurethane. I would suggest several coats on the top if you are doing something like a table or something that will have lots of use. If you would like to share some of your projects e-mail me. I would love to see and share.

Another Dresser Makeover

This is actually the very first piece I ever did. I remember being so nervous and terrified It was gonna look like my 8 year old did it. I played with color ideas; it was already white so I decided to leave it like it was but give it a lot of age and a pretty design. And of course some new hardware.
                                                                                          Before

After

I didn't get many pictures but inside the bird I wrote the word Love... I then even made a sign based off that idea. This might give a better idea.

Thanks Again and always Be Inspired

Dresser Makeover

I Love finding worn and abused pieces... missing hardware, missing veneer, broken pieces... stuff most people would pass by without a second look.

I didn't get a before picture but I found an old dresser on Facebook. It wasn't anything special; just an average dresser. I only gave $15 for it but I knew it had potential.

After peeling old stickers off of it, touching it up and gluing a drawer front back in place... I gathered some old legs I had from an end table I had laying around and attached them to the bottom.

I love Blues and whites... and I guess you could say I'm obsessed with bird decor. I painted it with Webster's Chalk Paint Powder. I Love the stuff. No Sanding... No nothing... Takes all the pains and aggravations and Leaves the best part... Painting!!!

I find so much joy in taking everyday pieces and giving them not only new life but making them special. Hand painting designs on furniture can be intimidating but actually quite easy. Even if you don't have much artistic ability you can always use a stencil.

Broken things Made Beautiful

There she was... Unwanted... Unloved.... and through most eyes Broken beyond repair. She was thrown out Ready to be Monday's trash. Though many eyes had gazed upon her she was overlooked. Seen as a disaster and to much work.

Seeing the potential  in this future Beauty I grabbed her up after her owner tossed her on the front porch and many had looked and turned away.

She was filthy... leftover Ketchup... broken drop leaf on both sides... chewed on by animals
by the normal eye and lost cause.

As she was loaded in the yukon I saw a few little roaches crawling underneath...
I don't even know if I made it  maybe half a mile before I could see she was infested. I pulled off the first road I came to and tossed her into the sand... I thew sand trying to get the filthy little pest off her. The more I thew the more I seen.

As I was about to leave her aside the road I felt Jesus say Don't leave her. This was once you. Infested with sin... dirty... unloved and unwanted.

"All of us have become like one who is unclean, infested and impure with sin, and all our Good deeds are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away."
Isaiah 64:6

Truly struggling with wanting to just leave her abandoned aside the road I took a blanket and smacked off all I could. I wrapped her up... put her back in and rode as quick as I could. I stopped at the first store and bought some roach spray. I opened the back and sprayed the table down. Inside I was freaking out.

She was so infested and just nasty. I got her home pulled her out and started spraying her down with the hose... I figured bug spray I used prolly got them but I was wrong. As I washed her down more came... dead and alive... After washing her down good and spraying more bug spray... I left her to dry over night.

The next morning I went out and there was no more sign of anything... I took it completely apart and cleaned her down with every cleaner I had and let her sit for 2 months. When I went to start redoing there were no signs of anything.

I sanded... painted and refinished the top in a Dark Walnut Stain.
She truly was a New Creation... Broken and nasty made Beautiful and given New life.

Maybe you've felt the same way... broken... unloved and just a complete disaster...
But just as this beauty you are not to far gone... you haven't messed up to much...

And in the same way God did the very same thing for YOU- Through Jesus and His finished work on the Cross! Jesus takes ALL Your Mistakes, Flaws, Fears, Sin, and insecurities and gives you all of His PERFECTION! When you accept Jesus- Put your Trust in Him and what He did for YOU; you become a New person! You no longer have to define yourself by the world's standards anymore! Because Jesus gives you a whole new identity: an identity of PERFECTION! His Perfection!
  (Isaiah 61:10 )

Jesus Loves you Fully and unconditionally... no matter who you are.
